The Abu Dhabi government is constantly working to develop an education system that is inclusive of all ages and fulfils the future needs of the national labor market. The educational system is divided into public and private sectors, with public education being fully funded by the government and available to all UAE citizens up to university level for free.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge is in charge of monitoring educational development projects in all sectors, including public and private education from kindergarten to secondary and higher education, technical and vocational education, and adult education.

Private School Abu Dhabi

In response to the educational needs of expatriate populations, the private sector has developed as one of the most important suppliers of education in the UAE. Although government schools may accept a small number of expatriate students as fee-paying pupils, private schools in Abu Dhabi enroll a larger proportion of students.

There is a huge network of private schools in Abu Dhabi, with 181 private schools serving more than 165,000 fee-paying students. These schools provide a diverse range of programs, including the International Baccalaureate (IB), UAE Ministry of Education curriculum, British, American, French, Indian, and Filipino curricula, among others.

While private school charges a heavier fee than that of a public school, it comes with its own advantages. Private School Abu Dhabi opens opportunities for international students to avail scholarships to further their education without having to worry about the financial constraint. Abu Dhabi is filled with scholarships for International students, which are discussed here below.

Scholarships for International Students

Scholarships can help any student get a top-notch education at their preferred educational institution. With over 65,000 international students studying in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it's easy to see how welcoming the country is to foreign students.

Students interested in pursuing their education in one of the UAE's emirates, such as Abu Dhabi, should be aware of not just the benefits of receiving a scholarship, but also the factors that make cities like Abu Dhabi such a popular choice.

Types of Scholarships for International Students in Abu Dhabi

1. GFRM (Global Future-Ready Scholarship)

The prestigious GFRM scholarship provides an outstanding chance for a valuable learning experience that will prepare the student to become a global citizen and provide them with easier access to respected universities and prestigious undergraduate programs of their choosing.

The only two criteria for selection is that the student is a resident of UAE and has an excellent academic record in the past two years from the applying date. Existing and new high school students are eligible to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to receive the prestigious scholarship that will help them advance their careers.

2. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship

In today's digital environment, children are expected to be tech-savvy from an early age. Their natural interest in new technology, as well as their knowledge of gadgets, programs, and other digital tools, allows kids to become experts in the subject at an early age.

This scholarship acknowledges such digital abilities and encourages them to pursue greater success. GSF intends to reward students' remarkable talents by granting a tuition price reduction through this award. Abdul Kalam scholarship is intended to assist students in grades 5 through 11 who are UAE citizens, as well as parents who are unable to support their children's higher educational needs due to financial constraints.

3. Athletic Scholarship at Abu Dhabi University

Per academic year, ongoing Abu Dhabi University students receive a 25% tuition cost waiver, for the Athletic Scholarship. Students with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.75 and active engagement on ADU sports teams (as a coach, captain, or player) are eligible for this scholarship.

The Athletics Scholarship will be valid for the duration of the student's full-time enrollment at ADU (registered with a minimum of 12 credit hours).

Meeting the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's English language competency criteria. The ADU Student Affairs Department will approve a recommendation letter.

Scholarships for international students gives them a chance to further their education. International students may face financial difficulties if they do not receive outside support. Here’s when scholarships enable students to devote more time to their education. Work can take up more than 15 hours each week, according to research, and constitute a barrier to academic progress.

Many students find it difficult to graduate on time or to get high marks they have the ability to attain, due to the stresses of working. For other students, the work/study balance is untenable, and they drop out of school entirely. Likewise, scholarships can help to bridge the gap. Students who fall in the middle of the income scale — students who may not qualify for a need-based scholarship but may not satisfy the standards for a merit-based scholarship — can benefit from scholarship aid. Scholarships also reduce the quantity and size of student loans required to complete education.

Before submitting a scholarship application to an organization, please consider the general eligibility requirements as well as any special restrictions. Please carefully review the scholarships and follow the application instructions, including the deadline and document requirements, as certain scholarships may have special criteria or exclusions.
