GIIS Abu Dhabi CBSE Teacher

What is CBSE?

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a renowned pedagogy which prepares students from Classes 1 to 12 for competitive examinations while facilitating entry into the world's leading universities. This approach to holistic education enables students to focus effectively on academics, as well as pursue their interests in sports and extracurricular activities.

The Curriculum

An interdisciplinary teaching at GIIS gives students a powerful opportunity to apply knowledge, principles, and values to more than one academic subject simultaneously. CBSE’s global curriculum comprises built-in activities and exercises which promote cross-curricular learning.

This approach supports two important GIIS goals:

Ability to apply knowledge effectively in a variety of contexts

Engage in higher-level reasoning skills.

Teachers leverage this method into an enriched learning experience by helping students more easily connect with the material. In addition to learning how to surmount demanding academic rigours, students also learn how to apply skills learned in the classroom to real-world challenges.

The Outcome

As with all of our other curriculum offerings, academics are at the forefront of the CBSE programme. The interdisciplinary teaching at GIIS gives students a powerful opportunity to apply knowledge, principles and values to more than one academic subject simultaneously.

This commitment is exemplified by consistently outstanding test scores of our students in both Class 10 and Class 12 in CBSE Board Examinations. These fantastic results facilitate the entry of our students into world's leading universities with ease.

CBSE Assessments and Outcomes

For students of Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme (CLSP), this is the first step towards choosing International Curricula as their mode of higher study.

The Cambridge IGCSE aims to cultivate the development of critical skills in students, including creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving. In doing so, the programme lays the vital groundwork for subsequent lifelong learning.

IBDP at Higashikasai Campus

What is IDBP?

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a curriculum pursued after the completion of Grade 10, ‘O’ Levels or equivalent, and provides balanced exposure to academics, a better understanding of the world and getting a great foundation for university life.

We are a candidate school for IBDP. Facilities in the Campus will make the IBDP an experience of high energy and deep learning, due to excellent exposure to infrastructure that leads to excellent breadth and depth of knowledge, and the skills to succeed physically, intellectually, emotionally, and ethically.

The Curriculum

Secondary school students between 16 to 19 years of age take up this programme which comprises six subject groups and the DP core, which includes the following:

Theory of Knowledge

Theory of Knowledge

This examines types, nature, and limitations of different ways of learning and different areas of knowledge.

Extended Essay

This is an in-depth study of a limited topic within a subject which provides students the opportunity to conduct independent research in order to produce a successful essay.

Creativity, Action and Service (CAS)

Creativity, Action and Service (CAS)

This is an element which complements the academic disciplines of the IBDP curriculum, and meets the mission statement of GIIS to nurture all-round citizens for tomorrow through everything from service projects to physical training.

DP Core

Here, students have the opportunity to reflect on the knowledge gained, conduct independent research, and undertake community service projects.

Just like our campus in Singapore, we are hoping to have world toppers and near toppers in the IBDP programme once it takes off. Our goal will be to achieve record school average for our IBDP cohorts year on year.

The ultimate goal is to ensure that our graduates go on to secure placements at the world’s most prestigious universities for their further studies.
