Abu Dhabi has a population of 2.784 million according to a 2018 report. In the earlier days, Abu Dhabi was not in a situation to boast of a stable education system. But, now, billions of Dirhams are spent by different stakeholders including the government agencies, local regulators, communities, parents and students to create a holistic education system for students to learn and get educated in Abu Dhabi.

Kindergarten and pre-school education is now considered important in Abu Dhabi especially due to the high number of expats. Most expats prefer to get their kids enrolled in private schools due to the better quality of education and opportunities.

Pre-school in Abu Dhabi usually starts at 3+ years of age for students in KG 1 and 6+ years of age for KG 2. Being the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi has some of the best preschools in the whole of the Emirates.

As a parent looking for preschools, it is imperative you look at schools near your accommodation or workplace. Abu Dhabi also has very high traffic in the city, especially during working hours which is when your child will go to and come back from school.

Research about the Pre-school in Abu Dhabi

You should do your research first, and apply for your preferred school at least a year in advance, as most schools have a waiting list. If you do not have that time, then it is advisable to get into any decent school and apply for your preferred primary school in Abu Dhabi.

Global Indian International School, Abu Dhabi

Global Indian International School is an Indian School in Abu Dhabi located in Bani Yas Baniyas East and follows the Montessori programme of learning. It has blended the Montessori with additional benefits called Global Montessori Plus imparting to students a blend of traditional Montessori approach and modern techniques.

The criteria are usually 4 years as of March 31 for KG 1 students and a fee of AED 10,600 for KG 1 is charged. They offer subjects like EVA, STEM, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Dance, Music, Free and structured play, etc.

GIIS also provides scholarships, as well as holistic development for your child. Since it is functional till Senior Secondary, you don’t have to worry about switching schools either.

Redwood Montessori Nursery, Abu Dhabi

One of the best nurseries in Abu Dhabi, The Redwood Nursery School that provides state-of-the-art facilities like a Water Splash Park, Mini Kitchen, Organic Plantation and varied afternoon enrichment sessions of Tennis, Gymnastics, Ballet, Dance and Music.

They inculcate a hybrid approach inspired by the Montessori Philosophy and the British curriculum.

To help out parents with options and flexibility, they offer an extended hours service, the afternoon club, providing a little extra entertainment for the children each day. The fee charges for the annual session round upto AED 24,000 to AED 44,000.

Bright Kids Nursery

Founded by the KBBO group, Bright Kids Nursery, is located in Al Manaseer next to Aldar Academy. They enforce a curriculum that promotes innovation, creativity, problem-solving and thinking skills, being a hybrid of the Montessori philosophy and the British EYFS.

The Bright Kids Nursery is recognized for its high standards of safety and quality, using neuroscience-based learning strategies mapped to the ways in which the brain develops.

They charge a relatively meagre cost of AED 18,000 to AED 24,000 for their state-of-the-art equipment and tailored teaching styles.

Odyssey Nursery, Abu Dhabi

Odyssey Nursery is located in Al Mushrif and follows a trilingual- French, American and Reggio Emilia curriculum of learning.

They focus on using play as a mechanism for learning and believe in a collaborative learning process with the involvement of families.

 They focus majorly on five areas of learning-

It is a Coed nursery that instills values of empathy, respect, compassion, social skills and individualistic decision making. They charge a fee of around AED 30,000 per annum.

Little Smarties Nursery

Little Smarties Nursery is located in Khalifa City and follows UK EYFS as well as Montessori curriculum for education. They are a Co-ed nursery focussing on instilling self-esteem, joy for learning through various playful activities. They start accepting applications from the age of 2 years.

They have a robust system of ‘Baby Rooms’ in a villa setting giving students ample space and time to explore and be curious while learning.

The staff of the nursery is carefully chosen after several screening processes and is trained to be sensitive to the sensitivities and needs of different children.

Aldar Academy

Aldar Academy’s Al Forsan Nursery is for young children. It is located in Khalifa City and follows the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for students aged 2 years and above.

It is a Co-ed facility and has special provisions for learning Arabic from a young age. They provide a warm, caring environment required for the children and encourage them to respect themselves and others around them, hence creating a sense of community.

It is an environment where children are encouraged to be curious through various simulations which help them learn in an effective way. The Al Forsan Nursery charges a fee of around AED 40,000 per annum. 

Noha’s Ark Nursery, Abu Dhabi

Noah’s Ark Nursery is located near Emirates International School, Abu Dhabi. They accept students between the ages of 1 year to 4 years and follow a curriculum of  UK EYFS.

They have also been awarded as the Safest Nursery in Abu Dhabi by Civil Defence and have a Nursery Clinic as well apart from CCTV cameras. They also provide transportation facilities with a female conductor to ensure safety is paramount with young children.

They focus on improving the child’s whole health including emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual growth and charge between AED 12,500 to AED 15,000 as annual fees.

Falcon British Nursery

Falcon British Nursery is one of the only UK accredited nurseries in Abu Dhabi. It follows the British EYFS curriculum and provides care to kindergarteners from the age of 6 weeks to 5 years old. The teachers are trained in early childhood education.

Falcon British Nursery is also focused on eco-friendly infrastructure and provides state-of-the-art facilities and different languages like French, English and Arabic.

They charge between AED 21,750 to AED 35,000 as annual fees. They also have CCTV cameras across the campus and separate parents’ and visitors’ entrances to ensure the safety of all students.
